Christian Education at Trinity

In today's world, many Christian's grasp of the essential teachings of Christ, are often weak or distorted.  As the early church practice week to believe that a continual devotion to study, will strengthen Christians individually in their faith and action. There are many opportunities to learn about the teachings of Christ and grow in your understanding of the Christian Faith. Trinity Lutheran Church offers a number of adult Bible Studies, Sunday School classes, and a Christian Preschool and Afterschool Program. Vacation Bible School is also held every summer for area school children.

If you would like a more "in-depth" study, you may pick up a copy of Luther's Small Catechism, from the church office. This book distills the teachings of Scripture into six basic areas. You may also want to join one of the classes listed below.

Adult Catechesis - this class meets two to three times a year with pastor Foote, and the leaders of Trinity.  Typically, there are seven sessions of two hours apiece, but on occasion the class will meet in three intensive four hour sessions. Check our calendar pages for the next scheduled class, or contact the church office at 273-9017 or

Topics include: the nature of God, the uniqueness of the Christian faith, a correct understanding of Gospel and Law, the role of the sacraments (baptism and Holy Communion), the Lord's Prayer and prayer in your life, how to exercise forgiveness, discovering and employing your spiritual gift(s) in your life, understanding the ministries of Trinity Lutheran Church, (shared by the leaders of Trinity).

Youth Catechesis: young people have an opportunity to get together in seventh and eighth grade and learn about the Christian faith.  Typically youth catechesis, also known as confirmation class, will meet from fall to spring once a week, for two hours, (the class includes a meal). At the end of this class students will have the opportunity to profess their faith publicly and receive holy Communion.

Topics include: all the same topics listed above in adult catechesis, in greater detail, also spending more time in comparative religions, and critiquing our culture. The class atmosphere is one where questions are welcomed, and students are encouraged to be supportive and pray for one another.  Students who participate receive a Bible, and a copy of Luther's Small Catechism.
